About Us

Central Park Public School is a culturally diverse community of learners growing together as citizens in an ever-changing world. We believe:

  • that children learn best in a safe, caring, supportive and stimulating environment;
  • that all children have the right to develop to their full potential;
  • that learning occurs in a holistic manner;
  • that the promotion of life-long learning for students, staff and parents is an important goal;
  • that as self-motivated, self-directed problem solvers, we can adapt to the challenges of the future

School Mascot is the eagle, a creature of character that respresents love.

The school motto is "Learning to Soar"  and "Soaring Together".

History

Central Park Public School opened its doors in 1989 with the official opening in 1990.  The name “Central Park” was given to the school as it is a part of the Manhattan subdivision.

The subdivision and school were built near the historical site of the Quantztown Cemetery, which commemorates the early settlers in the area, many of whom came from Germany in the late 1700s as part of the Berzcy Settlers.

Today the school community of Central Park is very diverse, representing cultures from around the world.  For many of our students, Central Park is their first school upon their arrival to Canada.

The “Tree of Learning” is the school logo.  It was created by Heather Miller, the first vice-principal.  its design is truly unique, incorporating drawings of children within the structure of the tree and its limbs.  She also wrote the words to the school song.

School Song

Love grows under the Central Park Tree
Lots of love for you and me
Reach for the top
Try your best each day
And we we’ll help each other all along the way.

Dreams dreams.

Sweet dreams,
Under the Central Park Tree.
Dreams, dreams,
One for you and one for me.

Oh, love grows under the Central Park Tree.
Lots of love for you and me.
Reach for the top
Try your best each day
And we’ll help each other all along the way.
